Annija, an English teacher from our school, spent a great week in Iceland
Annija, an English teacher from our school, spent a great week in Iceland, Borganes, as a participant in a course- Assesment for learning, organized by “IntrCultural Iceland”. The main focus of the training was on how to use assessment of and more importantly, for learning. The aim was to explore forms of assessment for learning, and assessment methods for the more creative and diverse forms of learning outcomes and also to explore how broader skill sets can be assessed and how intercultural approaches and blended learning can give rise to a wider skill set of intercultural competencies and creativity.
The training was organised in such a way that the participants participated and cooperated actively in group work as well as in plenary sessions.
The participants in the course were from 7 different countries which gave Annija the chance to gain experience from each of them and their workplaces (Secondary Schools, Private Schools etc.). The week consisted of not only working cooperatively every day during the course, but also giving questions every evening and morning, during the free time, to each other and discussing different topics about our countries such as nature, culture, politics and school system.
Annija had the chance to live in a small city, Borganes, surrounded by great mountains. The friendly people and the delightful nature made the time in Iceland unforgettable. Hiking on lava fields, seeing waterfalls, climbing on a volcanic crater, visiting farm houses, a brewery and looking for aurora in the evenings was a delight to the eyes and heart. Annija is grateful for the amazing opportunity she got, thanks to Erasmus project, the place she is working at and the great colleagues that helped her during this time.
